Marie Louise House

Marie Louise House, age 88, passed away at a local hospital, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, April 14, 2017.
Louise was born to Domingo and Julia (Echevarria) Solosobal, on February 15, 1929, at her grandmother’s Basque Boarding House on Grove Street in Boise. Louise had two younger sisters, Virginia and Helen. She was raised in Grandview and at age 11, moved to Eagle, Idaho. She attended Pleasant View Grade School and graduated as valedictorian from Eagle High School. She participated in cheerleading, drama and dance. On May 9th, 1948, after a five year courtship, Louise married Don House, also of Eagle, Idaho. Don joined the US Air Force in 1951, which resulted in their taking up residence in Texas, Illinois, and Washington DC. Don and Louise moved back to Boise, where they remained until their deaths. Louise had a strong work ethic and had many occupations throughout her life of 88 years, but her most important role, was raising her 3 daughters and caring for her family. Louise and Don had three daughters: Karen, born in Washington DC at Walter Reed Hospital (1953) and Vicki (1956) and Linda (1959), both born in Boise. Louise was also blessed with 3 lovely granddaughters, Heather, Angie and Bryanne, as well as two great granddaughters, Mattea and Elena. Her extended family included her sister and two brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Louise enjoyed outdoor activities such as gardening, camping, snowmobiling, family sporting events, and Boise State football and basketball, including tailgating. Louise also enjoyed bowling with her husband, sisters, brother in law, and many friends. Louise is best known for her kind smile, warm heart, family values and strong work ethics. Louise is survived by children Karen House, Vicki (House) and Dennis Gribble and Linda House; grandchildren, Heather (Gribble) and Vince Carlson, Angie and Bryanne Gribble; great grandchildren Mattea and Elena Carlson; a sister and brother in law, Helen and Richard Olson; and a brother in law William (Bill) House. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Don, father and mother, sister and brother in law Virginia and Smilie Anderson, and sister and brother in law, Eleanor and Leebern Scrivner.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, April 25th, at 10:30 am, at St. Mary’s, followed immediately by graveside services at Morris Hill Cemetery. A celebratory lunch will be served to family and friends at the Basque Center immediately following graveside services.
