Marilyn Jean Hawkins of Boise, Idaho, died July 13, 2022.
Marilyn was born in Reno, Nevada on May 16, 1944 to Jean Brown and Gerald Kinsman. She is survived by her husband, Donald Hawkins of 24 years; daughter, Darcy Shefstall; sister, Sharon Phillips; nephew, Stan McCabe; special children, Debby Sloan (Randy), Riley Hawkins, Darla Wright, Jeff Shefstall, Chris Shefstall, Brad Shefstall; grandchildren, Tiffany Waggoner (Nick), Megan Sloan, Haylie Wright calling her “Ama”; and great grandchildren, Colby Waggoner and Maddi Waggoner .
Marilyn graduated from Ben Lomond High School in Ogden, Utah in 1962 She worked several jobs throughout her career, but her favorites were The Idaho Cattleman's Association and Idaho Gastroenterology Association. Marilyn loved singing (putting Patsy Cline to shame), painting, and riding horses. She did barrel racing, team roping, and brought home several blue ribbons. She was active in the Shriners and Daughters of the Nile.
THEN CAME GOLF!!! Her voice mail said “I’m either Golfing, Golfing or Golfing.” She started the Infamous Chapman Golf Tournament “The Marilyn” which lasted over a decade which benefited Animals in Distress.
A service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 20th at Cloverdale Funeral Home a happy hour will follow from 3:00-5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family asked that a donation be made in her name to one of the following charities: Animals in Distress Association (AIDA) and/or Idaho Humane Society.
