Martha Hawksworth Barto

Martha Hawksworth Barto left this world at home in Meridian, Idaho, peacefully on March 3, 2018. Taken too soon at 65, she fought a hard battle with cancer. She is sorely missed by all who were lucky enough to be in her presence.

Born in Missoula, MT, she hit the ground running. She grew up in Idaho Falls with her parents, Tom and Pat Hawksworth, brothers Tom and Robert, and sister Margaret. Martha ended up in Boise and Meridian, where she lived a beautiful life. She worked at the phone company for 30+ years and always had the candy bowl full. Spending time on the boat she shared with her husband Jim and dogs, Blue and Morgan, was a typical day. And of course, there were all those coffee groups!

Martha is loved by her nieces, Margo Duarte Ruiz, Gabriela Duarte, and nephews, Mike Duarte, Jacob Hawksworth, Thomas Hawksworth, Richard Hawksworth, Griffith Masters, and Jordan Masters, and all their spouses and children, her brother Tom and his wife Icy, sister Margaret and her husband Daniel, and her brother Robert. Bill Burnett was there for her, holding her hand and sharing life’s special moments, as well. She is predeceased by her husband Jim Barto (2000) and faithful companion, red dog Morgan, and parents, Tom and Pat Hawksworth.
