LIFE HISTORY
   Mary Lou grew up in central California, the daughter of educators. She attended the College of the Pacific in Stockton, CA for 1 year as a music major, specializing in Piano. She met PVT First Class Charlie Head, the love or her life, at a dance at the Hanford, CA USO in early 1944. They were married on October 14, 1944 and traveled the United States with the Army Air Corps until the end of WWII.
   After the war, they settled in as tenant farmers and started their family in the California central valley. In 1950 they moved to Santa Rosa, CA to manage a ranch. But farming did not work out so 6 years later they moved into town and opened “Head’s Flying A” gas station. Charlie worked the shop and Mary Lou managed the books.   
   While raising the 4 children, Mary Lou returned to her love of Music and became a church organist. She and Charlie spent much of their free time serving their home churches, Pioneer Congregational and Knox Presbyterian.
   Upon their retirement in the 1990’s, the couple hooked up their old van and trailer to spend weeks at a time traveling the USA. There were several trips to Alaska and all the way across the country to Florida and back. In 1994, they celebrated their 50th anniversary with a cruise to Alaska.
   Mary Lou and Charlie were married for 63 years when Charlie passed on in 2008. Last year, 2018, Mary Lou joined her daughter in the big move to Idaho. She loved sitting in the dining room watching the snow dropping on the back porch in the winter (no snow where she lived in CA) and the bright sunshine in summer. She enjoyed watching Musicals and old TV shows with her caregivers every evening.
