Matthew Gum

August 27, 1986 ~ May 10, 2023 (age 36) 36 Years Old

Tribute

We mournfully announce the passing of Matthew Joshua Gum, 36, of Meridian ID. Matthew passed away unexpectedly on May 10, 2023 after a courageous battle against GBS.The family is comforted knowing our Matthew is now at peace and was so well loved by so many during his life.  
Matthew, son of Craig and LuAnn Gum, Fort Pierce, FL and Gayle Perryman, Meridian ID was born August 27, 1986 in Monroe, Louisiana. Matthew was blessed with a beautiful daughter Grace Virginia Lova Walters on June 8, 2017 and she was the light as well as the inspiration of his life.  

He had a twinkle in his eyes, a smile that warmed your soul and a gentle kind heart.

Matthew is preceded in death by Grandparents Gene and Pat Gum, Metarie, LA and Bobby and Ann Wilson, Bogata TX all who adored their beloved grandson.  
Matthew loved to cook and was especially famous for his Thanksgiving turkey which he cooked every year for his Mom and  many friends and family over the years. 
Matthew was an avid sports fan and loved his LSU Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals, Miami Dolphins and Boise State Broncos. Matthew was revered for his encyclopedic knowledge of sports information and statistics. He and his friends and family traveled to over half of the MLB stadiums over the years to watch games.  
He enjoyed game night with family and friends where he taught Grace many life lessons in his short time with her. 

His friends knew him as a truly genuine, loyal friend who was always up for new experiences. He spent a lot of years traveling the country, wherever his job took him, touching a lot of lives, all for the better. Whether you knew him for a few weeks, or a few years, that time was full of memories.

Matthew was an IT Professional for Emerson Automation Solutions Corporation since 2016.  He graduated from Nampa High School and Boise State University.
A celebration of life will be held at the Cloverdale Event Center in Boise on June 22, 2023 from 1:00-3:00 pm.
