Mia-Jan Drummond, born a firecracker on July 4, 1953, left for better days on July 20, 2018.
Her dearest friend, Linda Hackwell, had one last sleep-over and was by her side to the end. The family is eternally grateful.
Mia was born in Salinas, California, to Raymond J and Pansy Pauline Theis. Her mother passed when she was just 10 years old. Her father remarried to Anne Palmer and they all moved to Idaho where eventually she became a true North-end girl.
Mia lived her life the way she pleased and made no apologies. She was strong and independent and worked her hands into blisters right up to the end. She saw the world as only she could, and often it was both her joy and her torment. She was truly a free spirit.
One of the last things she said to us with headphones in her ears and death at her door was, “This is my favorite song. Crank it up!”
So, with that said, we will. We will crank it up and “Take it to the Limit” (the song) and do it for her.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 11, at the home of her daughter, Shannon, at 119 S. Olive Street in Nampa, Idaho. Please bring a chair and a story.
Mia is survived by her brother, Ron Theis; her sister, Pamy Ely; twin daughters, Mary Gerlach and Geni Tracy (John); her daughter, Shannon Hugi (Robert); and four grandchildren, McKenna Foruria, Alex Martinez, Samuel Hugi, and Lucas Tracy.
