Nancy Marie Smith

It is with great sadness that the family of Nancy M. Smith are announcing her passing after a battle with cancer, on Sunday, May 23rd, at the age of 70 years. She was surrounded by her family and friends. Nancy will be forever remembered by her husband and best friend Larry, and her children, Jennifer (Chris), Cindy, and Jeremy. She will also be fondly remembered by her three grandchildren, Kayla, Faith, and Michael (Alex), by her sisters and brother Bev (Gary), Donna (Rick), Rick, and Lisa (Al). Nancy will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Charlotte Staab.
Nancy was born July 17th, 1950, in Grangeville, Idaho and subsequently moved to Cottonwood, Idaho.  Nancy graduated from St. Gertrude’s Academy in 1968 and then attended Patricia Stevens Career School in Salt Lake City, Utah. After graduation, she worked in Pullman Washington for a year as a travel agent. The following year she moved to Boise, Idaho. In Boise she met and married her first husband and had three children: Cindy, Jeremy, and Jennifer. She married her second husband Larry Smith in 1995, the love of her life.  She worked for the State of Idaho for 19 years. While working at the State of Idaho she coordinated numerous legislative activities and was responsible for assisting with the Idaho DECA program.

Nancy enjoyed gardening, reading, and making Christmas cookies. She had a compassionate spirit and loved children. She will be deeply missed not only by her family, but also by all the people whose lives she touched.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Saint Luke’s Hospice services for the wonderful care and compassion extended to Nancy.

A funeral service is scheduled for Nancy on June 4th at 1 PM at Cloverdale Funeral Home Cemetery and Cremation.
