Tribute

Norma Yolanda Bocanegra Lopez, 70, of Nampa, Idaho, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, September 3, 2021. At that moment she was loved and surrounded by her children whom she considered her three precious jewels.

She was born to the late Domingo Bocanegra and Emma Delfina Bocanegra, May 6, 1951 in Hamilton, Montana. She was the second born of eight children. Norma graduated from Mission High School in 1969 and continued her college education at Latin American Bible Institute, both in Texas. During that time she met the love of her life, Benito V. López Jr., and they married on June 2, 1973 in Dinuba, California. After that, they moved to Boise, Idaho where they started their life together and raised their three children.

Norma was full of life and personality and had great love for all who were blessed to cross her path. She made every effort to make sure she told everybody about Jesus and of His love for them. Norma was very passionate about mission trips, from an orphanage in Mexico to building a church in the Dominican Republic and many more in between. But one of her greatest loves was the time she spent at camp every year mentoring and loving on children of abuse. Anybody that knew her, knew of her great love of clowning and balloon art, bringing joy and smiles to children all over the world. She also loved to travel but more than that, she loved being present for as many family milestones as she could, near and far.

Her children were her earthly treasures and they always knew it. The sparkle in her eye to see them was ever present and she loved them dearly even up until her final breath.

Norma is survived by her three children: Benito Bocangra Lopez III of Nampa, Idaho, Norma Angelica Johnson (Brett) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Sonia Annette Lopez (Miguel) of Kuna, Idaho. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Taylor Angelica Johnson, Alena Marie Lopez, Madison Lei Johnson, Miguel Angel Lopez II, Gabriel Rafael Lopez, Dominic Santiago Lopez, and Lucia Paula Lopez.
