Tribute

Norm “Pops” Seymour passed away May 19th, 2023, at the age of 81 in Boise, Idaho. He battled serious medical issues in the past several years with strength and courage and always with a smile. Despite the pain he was in, Norm was a hero and stayed strong to the end.
Norman Seymour was born July 22, 1941, in Muskegon Michigan to Norman and Dorothy Seymour. Norm proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1980 as a criminal investigator with the office of special investigations. He received the bronze star for his efforts during his time in the Air Force, unfortunately it was lost during many military moves, it was reissued in February of 2023 on Mountain Home Air Force base by the OSI Department. During his civilian life Norm worked for both Skaggs and Buttrey’s grocery stores, as the loss prevention officer, a job he enjoyed as it tapped into his special agent roots. Eventually he decided to “retire” and bought Pop’s Popcorn. He ran Pop’s Popcorn alongside his family for 16 years before he decided he would really retire. During his retirement Norm loved playing golf and going bowling, he also had a love for cooking. Many spectacular dinners were had by family and friends with Norm as the head chef. We called him “Candy Man” during the holidays, Pops spent countless hours making Christmas candy to share with his fellow golfers, bowlers, neighbors, and anyone that would enjoy it. No one could forget his perfect peanut brittle and his Christmas Prime Rib. Norm is survived by his wife Joyce to whom he was married for over 50 years, his son Michael Seymour and his wife Stephanie, his daughter Shannon Burr, granddaughter Andrea Seymour and his brother Leonard Seymour. Norm will be greatly missed by the community he built of golfers, bowlers, food enthusiasts, and his family.
Funeral services will be held at Veterans Memorial Cemetery on May 31st at 10am.
