Tribute

Patricia J. Fabricius, 80, of Meridian, Idaho passed away July 2, 2018 from injuries sustained in a car accident. Mom was born November 30th, 1937 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Harold and Virginia Burns. She would often tell the story of their trip from Blackfoot to Coeur d’Alene when she was just 2 days old, of her mother keeping her warm in one arm and running the windshield wipers with the other while her dad drove. After her parents separated at age 5, she went to live with her grandparents Lucius and Ivy Henderson-Burns. Mom was raised in Coeur d’Alene with many fond memories including her treasured time at their cabin on Hayden Lake fishing and swimming with her grandpa. Mom spent her Junior year of high school in McCall, Idaho with her dad Harold. That summer she worked at the Shore Lodge in McCall and learned how to water and downhill ski. She graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1955 then attended North Idaho Junior College for one year. At 19 she traveled to Juneau, Alaska to visit an Uncle and ended up staying for almost two years working for the Coast Guard. Mom returned to Coeur d’Alene where she met the love of her life, Martin H. Fabricius. Mom and Dad were married June 7th, 1959 celebrating their 59th Anniversary a month before she passed. After Dad finished his degree at the University of Idaho, they moved to Boise with their son Jon, living in their first home on 4919 Gage Street where their second child Brenda soon joined them. When a small farm came up for sale in Meridian, they decided to buy and raise their three children, Jon, Brenda & Kim for the next 33 years on the Adkins place before moving to their current home in Meridian where they lived for the next 25 years. They enjoyed many years with good friends and neighbors including joining a 40’s + dance club where Mom and Dad enjoyed one of their favorite pastimes together. Mom & Dads lives were dedicated to their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Neither missed a fair, birthday or ballgame for 59 years. They would travel hundreds of miles if it meant seeing one of their kids or grandkids show a cow, pig, sheep or make a touchdown, shoot a hoop or hit a ball. Together, they were our biggest fans. Mom was the most giving person we all knew, and she is, and will be greatly missed. Mom is survived by her husband Martin, one brother Jack Burns of Ely Nevada, her three children Jon (Teresa) Fabricius, Fruitland ID; Brenda (Dan) Udy, Potlatch ID; Kimberly (Darrell) Stout, Genesee ID; nine grandchildren Marie Fabricius-Duncan, Jake Fabricius, Zack Fabricius, Jena Lee Udy, Justin Udy, Jordan Udy-Duncan, Jaymon Udy, Wyatt Stout and Rhett Stout, three great grandchildren Tess Duncan, Levi Duncan and Harrison Duncan, and several special nieces and nephews. Mom was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Judy Burns. We will miss our mom, our nana, our great nana, and will cherish the memories, the stories, and the laughter. A celebration of life will be held at Cloverdale Funeral Home 1200 North Cloverdale Road, Boise, Idaho on Sunday, January 20th. Service starting at 11 am followed by a reception at the same location. In leu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Girl Scouts of Silver Sage, 8948 W. Barns St., Boise ID 83709.
