Dick Jones of Meridian, Idaho passed away August 8, 2022. He was born on May 8, 1935 to Kirk and Dorothy Jones of Seattle, Washington. Dick had an older brother, Kirk, who passed away in his 20’s. He also has two sisters, Judy and Sue. On September 30, 2021, Dick lost his loving wife, Elaine, of 65 years. Dick met Elaine at Lincoln High School where he was a track, basketball and football phenom (some liberties will be taken). He was All-City in track. Four years after high school after a rigorous tour in the Army, running track and playing football in Europe (Special Forces) to entertain the troops he married Elaine. They had three sons, Kirk, Keith and Ken. Later came six granddaughters, three great-grandsons and a great-granddaughter. Dick was very active and vocal cheering on his sons that participated in swimming, baseball, basketball and wrestling. Dick led Ken’s little league team to a championship while juggling out of town travel and having his two older sons as assistant coaches. Dick was one of the best baseball umpires in the area (league head umpire) and very entertaining to watch. Later Dick moved the family to Eagle, Idaho to start his tenure with Preco as Director of Sales. He later worked at Preco’s sister company Santa Clara Plastics. During this time Dick and Elaine were able to travel to Europe extensively and they thoroughly enjoyed this adventure. He also enjoyed has salmon fishing in the Puget Sound. Dick proudly owned one of the ugliest fishing boats on the Sound, but we caught lots of fish on it. He enjoyed his drives with Scooter to California and Oregon to see his sons. Unfortunately, he was taken too early from us. During the last years of Elaine’s life, Dick was her caretaker and definitely earned his wings. And now Dad is with Mom.
