Richard “Dick” Dean Robinson
February 3, 1943 ~ March 25, 2023 (age 80)
Richard, 80, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023 at his home in Nampa, ID following an
arduous battle with prostate cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones.
Richard was born on Feb 3, 1943 to Ray and Gayle Robinson in Sevier County, Utah. He was the
third of eight children. He lived a surreal childhood, farming and exploring the surrounding
mountains. At age 12, the family moved to Nampa, Idaho, then to a dairy farm in Meridian,
where Richard spent his teenage years working on the farm and playing sports. He was an
exceptional athlete. He later attended Boise Junior College where he played baseball and
football.
After serving in the Eastern Canada Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,
he married his eternal companion, Connie Jean Leavitt, on January 14, 1966, in the Salt Lake
City Temple. Together, they raised six children around the Boise area, then moved to Hot
Springs, Arkansas for 14 years before returning to the Treasure Valley in 2003. He was an active
member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities.
Richard made a living as a salesman. Traveling across the country and overseas for much of his
career, he loved to tell stories of his adventures in distant places.
Richard was an avid outdoorsman. He took great pleasure in hunting, fishing, and exploring new
country. He would often take long road trips just to take in the scenery, learn about new places,
or fish a new stream. He cherished these experiences with friends and family.
Whether he was fishing, playing cards, or simply visiting with friends, he was always the life of
the party. He was a great storyteller and had an infectious laugh and sense of humor. He loved to
read good books and watch football games. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren
and was always delighted with their accomplishments.
Our beloved Richard is survived by his wife of 57 years: Connie; his siblings: La Rae Meier,
Carma Klose (Tom), David (Michele Trembly), Dan (Marianne O’Neale), Peggy Allen, Connie
Jean Danes (Jim), and Pam Purnell (Kevin); his sons: Rick (Teronda Erickson), Randy (Sarah
Dillingham), Rusty (Jerianne Corbridge), and Riley (Cecelia Elam); his daughters: Ronda
Loucks (John) and Ranie Seversike (Thomas); and 14 grandchildren. He will be greatly missed
