Richard Lowell Vaughn, Sr. died October 18th, 2021 of natural causes at age 88. He was born to Leonard Lowell Vaughn and Monida Knowles Vaughn on December 27th, 1932 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He married Mary Lou Cappiello in 1956 in Boise. They have four children: Kathy, Rick, Carolyn, and Rob. They have five granddaughters: Megan, Ashley, Melissa, Angela, Arica, two honored grandkids: Veronica and Micah. Nine great-grandchildren: Shelby, Kira, Anna, Abbey, Brian, Brody, Nyla, Zayley, Aria, and two honored great-grandchildren: Michael and Katherine. He was preceded in death by his wife, father, mother, sister, and brothers.
Rich joined the Navy during the Korean War and made a world tour while serving aboard the USS Mitchell in 1951 whereupon returning to the States he met his wife of 65 years in Seattle, Washington. He retired from the Idaho State Department of Employment after 33 years of service. He will be interred at the Idaho State Veteran’s Memorial alongside his wife.
He requested cremation, no service or flowers. Donations can be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in his honor.
