Robert "Bob" Pistey was born to George and Elizabeth Pistey in Bridgeport Connecticut on January 16 1930. He met Joan Pough in 1949 and they were married September 27, 1951 in Biloxi Mississippi where Bob was serving in the US Air Force. During his time in the Air Force he spent time at Tempelhof AFB in Berlin Germany and then at Wright Patterson AFB in Ohio serving as an air traffic controller. During the time spent at Wright Patterson AFB they had a son Wayne born October 11, 1954. After being discharged they made their home in Stevenson Connecticut. On June 22 1956 their daughter Susan was born.
While residing in Connecticut Bob was employed by the So. New England Telephone Co. In February of 1963 the Pistey family moved to Boise Idaho where he started working for the lntermountain Telephone and Telegraph Co. He retired in December of 1985 from AT&T.
Bob loved the outdoors with a passion and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing and swimming. He brought up his children to have a great respect for the outdoors. He also enjoyed gardening and always had a vegetable garden during the summer at his home on 32nd St in Boise. Bob and Joan spent much of their retirement at their cabin in McCall during the summers. He spent much of his time with the upkeep of the cabin. You could always find him working on a project. Bob was also a fantastic cook.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his brother George Jr. of Middletown New Jersey, his wife Joan and his daughter Susan. Survivors include his son Wayne and his wife Lori and their children Matthew and Allison of Lakewood CA. Grandson Shane Voorhees and his fiancee Tara and their children Seth, Jason and Lily of Boise and Grandson Jared of Boise and a Granddaughter Amy Voorhees of Butte Montana. Bob has a niece Karen Iturralde who resides in Middletown New Jersey. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who reside in various parts of the country and many other friends who reside in Idaho, Arizona and California.

Funeral services for Robert John Pistey, 91 of Boise, Idaho will be held at the Cloverdale Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, October 2 at 2:00 PM with Chaplain John VanKirk officiating under the direction of the Cloverdale Funeral Home. A reception will follow at the Cloverdale Reception Center.
