Tribute

Robert Steven Golse, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at a local care center.

Bob was born in Boise, Idaho on October 26, 1934 to Mike and Mary Golse. He, along with sister Fran lived on a 10-acre farm on Ustick Rd. across from present day Delsa’s Ice Cream Parlor. They later moved up Ustick to a 40-acre dairy farm at Ustick and Milwaukee known as M & M Farm where present day Valley View Elementary School is located. Golse Dr. and Circle are located in the subdivision of the former farmland as a tribute to Mike and Mary Golse.

He attended Cole School and was a graduate of Boise High School Braves. Bob also attended Boise Jr. College and was an active member of the Cabrini Club. After college he joined the Army Reserve and in 1957 was drafted into active service. During this time, he was stationed at Fort Ord, California as well as Heidelburg, Germany. He formed many fond memories of his European military experience, which he happily shared with family and friends.

Upon returning from military service he was employed as a journeyman printer at Syms-York for 22 years where many lifetime friendships were formed. From Syms-York he joined Idaho Power Co. where he worked for 16 years before retiring in 1996.

Bob married the love of his life, Betty Frances Wolfkiel on September 30, 1961 and honeymooned on the Oregon Coast. Bob and Betty had three sons: Steven Michael, James Robert, and Jerry Michael. Bob was active and supportive of his son’s ventures in sports, hunting, fishing, and proud of each of their individual accomplishments. He loved to travel up and down the Oregon Coast and was very kind and outgoing to everyone he met along the way. As an ardent fan of Boise State University Football, Bob participated as a member of the chain crew for many seasons.

Bob is survived by his wife, Betty; sons, Steve and Jerry; sister, Fran Miller; brother/sister-in-laws, Bill and Marie Little, Bill and Alberta Ware, and sister-in-law Lucille Barnes; cousins, Jack Brozovich, John (Whitney) Brozovich, Louise Bruner, and Pat Beauclair; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Mike and Mary Golse, son James Robert Golse, and brother-in-laws Donald Miller and Dale Barnes.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Valley View Care Center, BeeHive Memory Care, and Harrison Hope Hospice for their loving care.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the Cloverdale Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cloverdale Memorial Park, and a reception will be held immediately following the graveside at Cloverdale Reception Center. We will always remember Bob as a kind and loving gentleman who will be forever missed by his family.
