Ronald Duane Herr

Ronald D. Herr (Ron) of Meridian Idaho passed away in Meridian, Idaho, on Thursday November 28th.  He was 85 years of age. Ron was born in Central Iowa in February of 1934 to Robert and Delores Herr.  He was raised on a farm and after graduation from High School and working various jobs, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during the Korean Conflict.  Upon leaving military service, Ron settled in the San Diego California area and married Eleanor (Ellie) Eley, also of central Iowa.  Ron and Ellie had three boys, Kent (Laura), Robert (Cheryl) and Jason (Debra).  After brief stints in Northern California, Colorado and then Southern Nevada, the family settled in Boulder City, Nevada, in the mid 1970’s where Ron spent the next 20 years excelling at the roles of a Father and banking executive.  He retired in Boulder City in the mid-nineties and began spending extended summers with Ellie in the mountains of Idaho. 
Ron relocated to Idaho after Ellie’s death in 1999 and settled at his fishing cabin in the mountains North of Boise.  He eventually met Divola (Dee) Nettles and they were married in 2005.  Ron and Dee resided in the Boise area and spent their golden years enjoying each other and their grandchildren and great grandchildren.  
Ron is survived by his wife Dee, sisters Karen and Sharon, brother Martin, his sons and step sons Kent, Robert, Jason, Tony and Greg.  Ron is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in Ron's honor on Monday, December 9th in the Event Center of Cloverdale Funeral Home, beginning at 11am.
