June 14, 1940 ~ February 12, 2021 (age 80) 80 Years Old

Tribute

Roy passed from this life on Friday, February 12, 2021 to step into eternity, knowing that his eternal life was just beginning, and he was ready to go meet his Yeshua.

Roy was born on June 14, 1940 to Elvin Turner Phillips and Nettie Davis Phillips, in Golden, Missouri. Roy’s life began in the Ozarks close to the Arkansas/Missouri state line, approximately 30 miles from Branson. The family including our parents: Raymond Phillips (deceased), Ermal Phillips (deceased), Retha Phillips Radue, and Naomi Phillips Geerhart.

Roy, along with his sisters Naomi and Retha, moved with our folks to Meridian, arriving April 13, 1947. Roy attended Cloverdale Elementary and Meridian High School, the only high school in Meridian in 1958. Roy also took some business courses at then Boise Junior College.

Roy became a Christian at age 9, and then lived throughout his life for his Lord Jesus Christ, Yeshua. He married Linda Joy Newdiger on September 11, 1959. He and Linda took a big step in 1975 founding Water & Waste Water Equipment Company. Their success was based upon prayer, lots of great suppliers, manufacturers, customers, and the greatest asset was our dependable employees. The business was sold in 1998 to another company and retirement was on the horizon.

Linda and Roy have four children, Ricky (deceased), Randy, Dan, and Leisa, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

October 2001 Roy joined Gideons International, volunteering as much time as possible in his retirement. From 2009 to 2012 Roy was the Association Chaplain for Oregon and Southwestern Idaho, plus serving the Local Gideon Camp in differing capacities. During this time Roy enjoyed serving the Gideon’s International Association and his Savior Jesus Christ, passing out His Word to people on the street, and for what the Gideons are best known for, placing Bibles in hotels and motels worldwide.

Flowers are beautiful but if you prefer, please give a donation to Gideons International, P.O. Box 1267, Meridian, ID 83642. 100% will go to placing God’s Word in 56 different ministry locations and in the USA and 200 foreign countries.

God has a plan for every person born or unborn. Psalms 139 is Roy’s favorite Psalm, and Proverbs is a book that everyone should read. It is also important for every person to know where they will spend eternity, this life is just a small percent of our life to be lived. If you do not know Jesus, I suggest you go to a Bible believing church and ask how to receive Him.
