On May 29, 2022, Susan Marie Gordon, “Sue”, passed away due to complications of heart disease. During the weeks prior to her death she enjoyed many visits with friends and family. She was so comforted by their presence in her final days. Sue was just 5 days short of her 86th birthday. She was living at Grace Assisted Living in Meridian at the time of her death. She thoroughly enjoyed the friends she made there as well as care she received.
Sue was born in Lewiston, Idaho on June 3, 1936 to Robert Sprecker and Charlotte Heiser-Sprecker. She was the 9th of 11 children. Sue spent her earliest years in Alpine, Notus and Meridian, Idaho. Her father passed away when she was young, leaving her devoted mother to finish raising her and several of her young siblings. Sue really loved her mother and had so many fond memories of her.
In 1954, Sue met and married Don Gordon of Horseshoe Bend, Idaho. The following year they welcomed their son Tom into their family. A year and a half later and making their home in McCall, Idaho, their daughter Linda was born. Sue thrived in an era when many women were housewives and stay at home mothers. She enjoyed that role very much. She was happiest when making her family happy. Don was a logger and soon the family followed his job to Old Meadows, then to Cascade where he and Sue spent the majority of their 61 years of marriage before Don’s passing in 2015
Sue was a standout among family and friends. No matter the circumstances, you’d always leave with a story of something funny she did or said while you were with her. She laughed easily and often, even if it was about herself. She enjoyed the outdoors, time with family and friends, embroidery and cooking. In later years, she became an avid reader.
Sue will be lovingly remembered by her survivors, which include her son, Tom Gordon (Cheri) of Cascade, Idaho and her daughter, Linda Coble of Meridian, Idaho. Also, surviving Sue are 3 grandchildren, Bill Todd (Amanda), Tess Cormell, Laura Pierce (Danny) ,6 great grandchildren, sisters Dorothy McPhersen and Ruth Trent, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Robert and Charlotte, her husband Don, brothers, Bob and Joe, sisters, Ardice, Betty, Helen, Maybelle, Marge, Lois (Pete), son-in-law, Ben, and a great grandson.
Sue’s Memorial Service will be held at Cloverdale Funeral Home in Boise, Idaho on June 11th at 1 pm.
