Troy Lee Whitton, 88, passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 in Boise, Idaho. He was born August 29th, 1932 in Shreveport, Louisiana to parents Jesse and Madie Whitton. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, older brother James and twin brother Travis. He was also preceded in death by wife Dorothy J. Whitton in 1984, and second wife Theta in 2017. He was survived by brother Ray, sisters Elaine Faye and Betty; children Leonard Whitton, Gloria Benton, and Paula Barney; grand children Richard Keeney, Stan Whitton, Alan Keeney, Candice Parker, Kelly Green, Jessica Grimes, and Justin Hicks; 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Troy was a long time member of Sonrise Church of God in Bakersfield, CA. While there he loved to teach, preach, and sing. While our mom Dorothy was alive, they loved to sing together; an all time favorite and much requested song was “I’m Building a Bridge”. Most of his adult life was in the trucking industry, whether it be driving, dispatching, or managing; a harder working or more dedicated man would be hard to find. His last years were spent living at Ashley Manor Assisted Living where he made many friends and loved to put smiles on many faces. He will be missed by many there. More than anything we will miss his selfless love, his kind and encouraging words. His humor, wit, and that “Happy Birthday” song we all knew was coming. In addition that special, sometimes silly personalized poem we often found in our cards. Love you DAD.
