Vesta Laverne Young

September 15, 1925 ~ January 4, 2020 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Tribute

On January 4, 2020, Vesta Laverne “Pat” Young passed away and was granted her final wish to be able to join her beloved husband, Stan.
Pat was born on September 15, 1925, in Shelton, Nebraska, to Guy and Dora Patrick. She lived in Nebraska, Nampa, Caldwell, McCall, and Boise, Idaho.
In 1951, she married A. Stanley “Stan” Young. They raised their family (two sons and a daughter) in Caldwell and McCall, Idaho. Stan’s love for travel took him and Pat on many adventures through the years, traveling throughout the world. They also spent several winters in Arizona as snowbirds.
One of Pat’s proudest accomplishments was her career as a Registered Nurse. Prior to retiring completely, she served as head nurse at Boise Samaritan Village.
Stan and Pat moved into the community at Willowbrook where they spent many years enjoying being involved as board members, relaxing and hosting holidays. After Stan passed, Pat moved to Grace Assisted Living, where she spent most of her time reading, doing arts & crafts, as well as winning “big” at Bingo.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Dora; husband, Stan; three sisters, Opal Clark, Vera Blauvelt & Thelma Wade; and three brothers, Dale, Leo & Vernon Patrick. She is survived by one sister, Lois Harwick, Caldwell, Idaho; son, Don Young, and his wife Cleone, Hillsboro, Oregon; son, Jerry Young, Spokane, Washington; and daughter, Barbara Gates, Boise, Idaho. She was blessed with one grandson, Chris McGinnis, Medford, Oregon; and two granddaughters, Kim Young, Mt. Vernon, Washington and Jennifer Lang (Tyler), Boise, Idaho. She was also the proud greatgrandmother to Bailey, Jessica, Taylor, Cailyn and Chloe.
Pat’s love for her family was unending. Those who had the honor and opportunity to know her are familiar with and will miss her “tough as nails” outlook, which showed her ability to handle any problem and keep enduring. She was generous to a fault and loved fiercely. She was very proud of her nursing background as a registered nurse and wouldn’t miss a chance to “talk shop”.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Grace Assisted Living/Memory Care and Horizon Hospice for their care and compassion.
In keeping with the wishes of Pat, there will be no funeral services. Should you want to honor her memory, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in her name.
