Tribute

Wendy Ann Hettinga, 59, died November 22nd, 2018, with her family by her side in Meridian, Idaho. Wendy was born on September 29th, 1959, in Atwater, California, to Barbara Kay and Ronald Jacob Yochem. She graduated from San Clemente High School, where she met the love of her life Theodore (Ted) Hettinga IV. High school sweethearts who began dating at age 16, Wendy and Ted were married in 1982. Wendy was awarded an Associate of Arts degree from Saddleback Community College. She completed additional coursework at Northern Arizona University, where Ted received a basketball scholarship. In 1997, Wendy, Ted and their two daughters Kelsey and Hannah moved to Boise, Idaho, both working for the Boise Unified School District. Wendy was a reading instructor and Ted is the Principal at Timberline High School. Wendy and Ted moved to neighboring Meridian, Idaho, in 2014.

Wendy was a beautiful person who dedicated her life to helping other people, sharing her many talents and gifts freely. She loved spending time with her family – cooking, laughing, doing projects around the house or garden, supporting her daughters in their school activities, watching sports, movies or home improvement shows, and enjoying the outdoors. She was ‘all in’ during the holidays and her joy in celebrating life events big and small was contagious. She loved animals, and over the years many wonderful cats, dogs, horses, aquatic animals (fish and turtles), a guinea pig and a rabbit were fortunate to share a home with her and her family.

Wendy is survived by her husband Ted; her daughters Kelsey Ann Forbes and Hannah Nicole Hettinga and their husbands Charles Forbes and Ryan Burke; her grandson Theo Alexander Forbes; and her sisters Pamela Kay Yochem, Erin Michelle Hausladen, Lisa Hausladen, Lynn Collier and Leslie Senti. She is preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Kay Hausladen and her stepfather Merle Edward Hausladen.

The family will hold a private service in the spring. Donations in lieu of flowers or gifts may be made in Wendy’s memory to: Boise MSTI, c/o St. Luke’s Health Foundation, 190 East Bannock St., Boise, ID 83712.
