Willie was born in Montgomery, Alabama in 1933 and later moved with his family to Detroit, MI. There were 10 siblings, seven brothers (Robert Lewis, Sylvester (Bobby), Kenneth, Willie, Ruben, James, and Melvin), and three sisters (Mary, Althea, and Dorothy). After High School graduation Willie joined the U.S. Air Force. He served his country honorably for 24 years in many parts of the world, including Vietnam. During one of his overseas assignments in Wiesbaden, Germany he met his wife Ingeborg, who from then on shared the military and travel life with him. In 1974, they arrived at Mountain Home AFB with their four children. Willie served his last military tour here before becoming a “retired civilian” in Boise, ID. Only his retirement didn’t last long as Willie started his second career of 20 years at the Idaho First Bank (West One, US Bank). After retiring from banking, it was only a short while before Willie felt the urge to become usefully employed again. He spent another 20 years part time at Boise’s first Walmart store from which he finally retired in March of 2017!

Willie was a faithful member of St. Paul Baptist Church and served in many different capacities to “help out”; he was known by many as “Mr. St. Paul”. Above all, Willie was a people person and a friend to many.
Willie had many hobbies, but photography and woodworking were his main loves. He won several ribbons at the Idaho Fair to prove it.

On December 28, 2017 at the VA Hospital, Willie was called home. He is survived by his wife; four children, Andreas, Rebecca, Rita, and Catherine; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister, Althea; brothers, James and Melvin; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their profound gratitude to Willie’s doctors, nurses, and all supporting staff for the outstanding loving care they provided Willie at our local VA Hospital. We thank you for all the kindness that was extended to our family!
