Tribute

Wilma Blanche Morgan Ground was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 24,
1921 to Emily Alice Baugh Morgan and George William Morgan at American Falls, Idaho. She was the 7th child born to this family with 6 older brothers. Her mother died when she was 7 years old. She was so much younger than her older brothers that she stayed with some of their families as she went to school. After she graduated from high school, she attended and graduated from a cosmetology school in Pocatello. Two years later she and her roommate opened their own shop. In August 1945, she met Robert (Bob) Ground and three months later, they were married.
On October 1, 1946, they were blessed with a son, Gary Neil Ground. Bob worked for the railroad, but was away too much; so took a leave and found a job with Garrett Freightlines. Bob was transferred to Portland the next spring as shop foreman. When Gary was 3, they purchased a new home. But in July, 1950, they sold the home and moved to Salmon Idaho to help her Dad work a ranch on Withington Creek.
Bob worked on the construction of Tiber Dam in Montana and for MK to help build a fill through the Great Salt Lake for the railroad and Gary and Wilma were able to join him. The money they saved made it possible for them to buy her brother's half of the ranch and they returned to Salmon to run the ranch for her Dad.
In 1966 they sold the ranch and retired to Pocatello. Bob soon became bored and found a job with Bannock Machinery. In 1969 they moved to Boise where Bob had been offered a job in Meridian.
They enjoyed being near her relatives and spent much time with them. They spent weekends camping and fishing. They also joined bowling leagues and made long time wonderful friends who they played cards with and shared many happy occasions.
Everywhere they lived, they made life-long friends with their neighbors. Bob retired in 1983 and they started traveling and spending winters in California. They made more forever friends there and Wilma played bingo and pinochle and took watercolor classes.
She loved engaging in conversation, in person and on the phone. Growing roses and flowers and berries, working in her yard gave her great joy. She loved to bake and try new recipes. And she crocheted and made quilts for her grandchildren.
Wilma lived in her home after Bob passed away in 2013. They had been married 68 years. Two years ago she moved to the Cottages of Boise assisted living.
Wilma is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Billie Ground;
Grandchildren Amye and Dave Madsen; Kevin and Margaret Ground; Great
Grandchildren Alyssa Ground, Brandon Ground, John and Nikki Stallions; and Great Great Grandchildren Kingsley, Kaydence, and Addy Stallions; and many nieces and nephews who were a very special part of her life.
We would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Cottages for their support and love and the care and patience they showed our Mom. They go above and beyond.
