Zenith Scott

Tribute

Zenith Wayne Scott age 95 of Boise, Idaho died peacefully July 17, 2021 at his home in Meridian. Zenith was born in Bethany, Missouri to Ralph R. and Bessie Scott. At age of three, moved to St Anthony, ID for two years. The family then moved to Meridian, Idaho at the age of five. Zenith attended Meridian Grade School and Meridian High School, graduating in 1944. Immediately following High School graduation he was drafted into the Service (Infantry). After his boot camp training on his delay in-route overseas he married his High School Sweetheart, Thelma Jeanne Wood. They were married January 22, 1945 and were married for 76 years.
Going overseas with the United States Army, 11th Infantry Regiment, 5th Division he served in World War II under General Patton’s Red-Diamond Division. After the end of WWII he returned to married life in Idaho and settle in Boise. Zenith’s first job after the Army was with Engineering Sales (Heavy Equipment) and then with Southern Idaho Equipment for several years. He then started his own business, Machinery West, Inc. providing wire rope and cabling for the logging and ski resort industry throughout Idaho. He sold the business in the early 80’s and went to work for Kimball Equipment selling concrete crushing equipment where he worked until he was able to retire 30 years later at age 83. He always said “All my customers are my best friends”, and treated them well. In 1952 a daughter, Linda Jeanne, was born and was the Apple of his eye. In 1961, a son, Larry Wayne, was born and Zenith was so proud to have someone to carry on the Scott name. As his children grew up he enjoyed their activities a lot. Taking them to music lessons (both played the Saxophone), ball games, drill team events, band events, bowling, etc. He really enjoyed being a chaperone on Larry’s Capital High School trip to Disney Land and Knotts Berry Farm!
Zenith’s interests and hobbies were camping, bowling, golfing and took pride in gardening throughout his life. He was an avid family man, devoted husband, father, and was very active up to the day he passed. Zenith and Thelma were Charter members of the Amity United Methodist Church when it started in Boise.
Survivors: Son, Larry Wayne Scott, Seattle, WA; Son-in-law, Les Jenkins, Boise, ID; Five Grand Children: Jeremy Jenkins and wife Mia of Boise; Aaron Jenkins of Nampa, ID; Twin Granddaughters, Lauren Scott, Denver, CO; Sydney Scott, Santa Cruz, CA; Garrett Scott, Capitola, CA; Three Great Grandchildren: Brianna, Isaac, and McKenna Jenkins, Boise, ID.
Proceeding his death were his Wife, Thelma Scott, Meridian, ID; Daughter, Linda Jeanne Jenkins, Boise, ID; Five Siblings: Kathryn Colson, Grandview, WA; Helen Parsons, Caldwell, ID; Gertrude Warren, Ogden, UT; Merle Felt, Boise, ID; Gerald Scott, Ogden, UT; Parents: Ralph and Bessie Scott, Boise, ID.
Viewing, service and celebration of Zenith’s life will be held at Cloverdale Funeral Home, Boise, ID, at 11:00am on Saturday, August 7, 2021, followed by Graveside service and a luncheon at Cloverdale Funeral Home, Boise, ID.
