Betty Jo Hunsaker Wyatt was born to LeGrande Hunsaker and Annie Rachel Harper on July 28, 1931 in Tremonton, Utah. She is the second to the youngest of eleven children (nine brothers and a sister).
Betty Jo grew up in Honeyville, Utah and attended high school at Box Elder high in Brigham City, Utah. She was recognized in the honor society and was a successful beauty queen throughout a variety of school activities and local competitions.
On January 4, 1951, Betty Jo married Fred R. Wyatt and they were blessed with three wonderful children: Blaine Ray Wyatt, born August 31, 1951; Madeline Wyatt Thornton, born December 26, 1952; and Stephen Hunsaker Wyatt, born January 2, 1954.
For two years, Betty Jo was manager of the “Fashion Center” in Tremonton and in Brigham City and she modeled for “Milady”. She also belonged to the “Dental Association” in Pocatello, Idaho. In Boise, Idaho, Betty Jo sold Vonda Beauty Counselor cosmetics for nine and a half years. Beginning in 1967, she worked part time for seven years for the “Rag Bag”, a boutique fashion store. She also worked part time for three and a half years at the “Bon Marche”. Betty Jo later worked full-time at the “Mode Ltd.” where she was in ladies high fashion for four years. Until recently, she was a member of “President’s Club” and belonged to the “Honor Society” for Avon. She truly enjoyed selling and connecting with people.
Betty Jo was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints over the years. She served on the Hillcrest Elementary School Board in Boise for two years and was active in the PTA for several years as-well-as PTA Carnival Chairman for three years. She was a Room Mother at the Hillcrest School and a Den Mother for the Cub Scouting program both at Hillcrest and with the LDS church. Betty Jo also worked many years on the Cancer Drive.
In her younger years, Betty Jo loved canning, swimming, embroidering, ceramics and crocheting. She enjoyed traveling and was able to fulfill her lifelong dream of vacationing in Hawaii. She kept herself fit by walking most evenings.
Betty Jo passed away on June 10, 2018 due to complications from pneumonia while living in the Charleston, South Carolina area. She is survived by her brother Dan Hunsaker (Ruth), her three children; Blaine (Julia), Madeline, Stephen (Tammy) and five wonderful grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Harper (Zola), LaVon (Katherine), Morrell (Elaine), Thomas (Vilda), Richard (Afton), Zealand (Catherine), Shorland (Helen) and Maurice (Ann); and sister Nona; and Granddaughter Christina.
A graveside service will be held on June 23, 2018 at noon at Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens, preceded by a short viewing at 11:00 AM at the Garden Room of the Cloverdale Funeral Home 1200 North Cloverdale Rd., Boise, ID.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Betty Jo’s name to a charity of your choice, preferably a cancer prevention/research organization.
