James Norris Jennings, 88, Boise, Idaho passed away on October 18, 2017 at his residence. Funeral service will be at Cloverdale Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 1:00 PM. Burial will be at Cloverdale Memorial Park.
James N. Jennings was born November 25, 1928 in Tulia Texas the youngest of five children of Lillian and William Jennings. He moved to Idaho in 1950 and attended Idaho State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture. While going to school working as a painter as his father did, he met Donna Fern Lounsbury. The quickly fell in love and were married September 8, 1951. The raised two children there until moving to Boise where they had three more children. Jim went to work for Albertsons in the original store on 16th & State as an architect in their Design Construction Division. He later moved the family to McCall and worked for the Brown Tie Lumber Co designing A frame homes that would withstand the snow. He assisted in the design of the Catholic Church there where later three of his children were married. He returned to Boise and rejoined the Albertson’s team again in 1965. During his 25 years with Albertsons he helped them grow their stores from 25 to over 400. Over his years he enjoyed a personal relationship with Joe Albertson.
After leaving Albertsons he worked for the State of Idaho as a Contracting project manager until he retired. Jim believed in God and was a man of strong morals always living by the Ten Commandments, which he instilled in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jim enjoyed taking summer vacations with the family going to Disney Land, San Diego Zoo, the Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns and numerous trips to Texas to visit his family. He taught the children to ski in McCall when they were very small a memory they all loved.
Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years Donna, his children Rick Jennings, LaUna (Doug) Wolf, Don (Diane) Jennings, Randy (Patty) Jennings, Roger Jennings, 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Jim we will miss you so much you were the most honest and respectable man in the world, We Love you.
