Robert Edward Lally

“I Did It My Way”

Robert Edward Lally was born on June 25, 1930 in Nutley New Jersey. He was the eighth and youngest child of Joseph and Elizabeth Probst Lally. He died of natural causes in Boise, ID on March 18, 2017 at the age of 86.

Bob married Norma Lorene Ross on December 4, 1953. They divorced in March, 1986. They had 4 children together: Robyn Carol Rochat, (Vancouver, WA) Timothy Jon Lally, (Shreveport, LA); Jeffrey Alan Lally (Mtn. Home, ID); and Gregory Roy Lally, (Spokane, WA). Bob also has 5 grandchildren: Aaron Murch, Nick Murch, Travis Murch (Vancouver, WA), Jennifer Pendrack, (Orlando, FL) and Kim Wheeler, (Lacey, WA) and 11 great grandchildren: Asia, Sophia, Alana, Nola, Samantha, Finn and Logan (Vancouver, WA), Dillon (Lacey, WA), Michael, Ian and Levi (Orlando, FL).

For the past 5 years, Joy Currie (Boise, ID) has been Bob’s dance partner and devoted life partner. They went on many trips together, including a Caribbean cruise. Her family embraced him as one of their own. Joy was very good for him and was with him until the very end.

Bob served in the Air Force for 20 years and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1971. He earned a Bachelor degree in Education at Boise State University.

Bob was very active all his life. He enjoyed white water rafting, golfing, and camping.
He bowled on leagues for many years. He was a fantasy football enthusiast and enjoyed betting on horse races. He especially loved dancing and karaoke. One of his favorite songs was “I Did It My Way,” which pretty much summed up the way he lived his life. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Eagles Lodge and the American Legion.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Lally (Newark, NJ); brothers Walter Lally, Don Lally, Gene Lally (Newark, NJ), Joe Lally (Santa Monica, CA); sisters, Mary Reilly (Pheonix, AZ), Peg Ihle (Newark, NJ), Betty O’Donnell (Minneapolis, MN), and his infant son, Timmy Jon, who is buried in Shreveport, LA.

In lieu of a funeral, his family and friends will conduct private memorial services.

Bob was an energetic, fun-loving man who was known for his sense of humor. He was loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
